Green tea meets jasmine blossoms at exactly the right time. Not a flavor added later. Actual flowers paired with fresh tea when both are at peak. The result is floral, vegetal, sweet, smooth. Multiple steepings work because this is real jasmine scenting, not artificial flavoring. The kind of tea that makes sense why people write poetry about it.
Tea Type: Scented Green Tea (Caffeinated)
Base: Chinese Green Tea
Scenting: Jasmine Blossoms
Vibe: Floral, elegant, naturally sweet
Jasmine
Body: Medium
Astringency: Medium
Sweetness: Medium (natural)
Flavor Profile: Floral jasmine 🌸, Sweet green tea, Vegetal notes, Silky smooth
This is traditional jasmine tea done properly. The green tea is picked, processed, and set aside. When jasmine flowers bloom (usually late summer), the tea and flowers are layered together. The tea absorbs the floral aromatics naturally. Then the flowers are removed.
The result is green tea with deep jasmine fragrance that tastes floral and sweet without being perfumey. It's balanced. The green tea provides structure. The jasmine adds elegance. Nothing tastes artificial because nothing is.
🔴🔴⚪⚪⚪ Low-Medium
Green tea caffeine. About 20-40mg per cup. Less than black tea, more than white tea. Good for all-day drinking without jitters.
Base Tea: Chinese Green Tea (hand-picked spring harvest)
Scenting: Fresh Jasmine Blossoms (Jasminum sambac)
Process: Traditional multi-layering method
Real jasmine tea isn't flavored. It's scented. There's a difference.
The green tea is picked by hand in spring, then processed and stored. In late summer, jasmine flowers bloom (usually at night). Workers harvest the blossoms at peak fragrance and layer them with the tea. The tea absorbs the floral aromatics over several hours or overnight. Then the flowers are removed and the process repeats. High-grade jasmine tea goes through this process 5-7 times.
This version uses that traditional method. The green tea and jasmine blossoms are paired at exactly the right time to create harmony of fruity flavors on a medium-bodied green tea base. It's labor-intensive, which is why good jasmine tea costs more than flavored tea bags. But it's worth it.
Traditional (Multiple Infusions)
Amount: 2.5g tea per 12oz water
Water: 175°F (not boiling)
Time: 4-6 minutes first steep, 5-7 minutes subsequent steeps
Pro tip: This tea is good for 3-4 infusions. Each one tastes slightly different.
Quick Brew (Western Style)
Amount: 2.5g tea per 12oz water
Water: 175°F
Time: 5 minutes
Pro tip: Don't over-steep. Green tea gets bitter above 6 minutes.
Cold Brew
Amount: 2.5g tea per 12oz cold water
Time: 8-12 hours in fridge
Pro tip: Cold brewing brings out sweetness and reduces astringency. Perfect for summer.
What's traditional scenting? Real jasmine tea is made by layering fresh jasmine blossoms with processed tea. The tea absorbs the floral aromatics naturally. The flowers are removed before packaging (you might see a few left in for appearance). This process repeats multiple times for high-grade tea. It's labor-intensive and time-sensitive, which is why authentic jasmine tea costs more than flavored alternatives.
Why not boiling water? Green tea is delicate. Boiling water extracts bitter compounds (catechins) too quickly, overwhelming the subtle jasmine notes. 175°F extracts flavor without bitterness. If you don't have a thermometer, let boiling water cool for 3-4 minutes.
Multiple infusions: High-quality jasmine tea is good for 3-4 steepings. The first steep is most floral. The second brings out more green tea character. The third is subtle and sweet. Each infusion is worth drinking. That's how you know it's real tea, not cheap dust with jasmine flavoring sprayed on.
Best time to drink: Jasmine tea is traditionally served in the afternoon or after meals. The floral notes are refreshing. The green tea aids digestion. The low caffeine won't interfere with sleep if you drink it in the evening.
